LOVE LEADS TO POLITENESS

“Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It is not rude…”

-- I Corinthians 13:4-5 –

#1 IS COURTESY REALLY THAT IMPORTANT?

"Don't copy the behavior...of this world, but be a new and different person...."

-- Romans 12:2 The Living Bible (paraphrase)

"All men will know you are my disciples, if you love one another." -- John 13:35

"Be wise in the way you act toward outsiders; make the most of every opportunity. Let your conversations be always full of grace...." -- Colossians 4:5

#2 WHERE DO WE FAIL TO BE COURTEOUS?

A) THE MARKETPLACE

"...Show proper respect to everyone...." -- I Peter 2:17

B) THE HOME

"But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure, then peace-loving,

considerate, submissive, full of mercy & good fruit, impartial & sincere!" -- James 5:17

C) THE CHURCH

"Do unto others as you would have them do unto you!" -- Luke 6:31

“Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.” -- I John 4:8

#3 WHY DO WE FAIL TO DEMONSTRATE COURTESY?

A) PRESSURE

B) SELFISHNESS

C) LACK OF EDUCATION

D) INFLUENCE OF MEDIA

E) WE IGNORE THE EXAMPLE OF JESUS!

#4 HOW CAN WE START TO BE MORE COURTEOUS?

A) KNOW GOOD RULES OF ETIQUETTE!

B) LEARN TO PUT PEOPLE AT EASE

C) DON’T BE EASILY OFFENDED!

"A man's wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense!"

D) DETERMINE TO BE GRACIOUS TO OTHERS, NOW!
